The Engagement Game

February 20, 2010

I met Richard about 3 years ago when I hired him to be the videographer at my wedding. My husband and I clicked with him instantly. They talked for 20 minutes about the show “24” and how Richard could incorporate that into our video. I knew then and there we’d be signing with him!

Fast forward to our wedding in April 2008 when I met Neeta, Richard’s right hand woman. I saw the way they interacted with each other at our wedding and they were so in sync all the time. Little did I know they had actually been a couple for many years.

About a year after we got married, Richard told me he popped the question to Neeta and she happily accepted. When I started this business, Richard and I kept in touch and he has since become my number one videographer referral. He and Neeta are two of the best videographers in Boston and everyone should know that!

Fast forward again to this Wednesday. I get an email from my husband , subject titled “Anyone look familiar to you” and there was a link to boston.com and in that link was a picture of Richard and Neeta and an article about The Engagement Game. I read the article and I immediately needed to see this game in action. Meredith Goldstein at the Globe had hand picked 3 wonderful couples to compete in the game. Richard and Neeta were one of those couples!

So now here I am on Friday night at the Travel Show at the Seaport World Trade Center watching Richard and Neeta potentially win a honeymoon in Aruba if they answer all of the questions right!

They are competing against two other couples, Meghan and Aaron and Colleen and Justin. Each couple is asked a series of 3 questions plus a bonus question and whoever has the most points at the end wins an INSANE honeymoon package for 7 days to Aruba. I’m thinking, Richard and Neeta have this easily! Granted, I’m slightly biased, but it’s my blog and I’m allowed to be! So here’s what I learned from the game:  If given a “free pass” on a one night stand, Neeta would chose Jason Varitek over Tom Brady and Kevin Garnett and she absolutely LOVES Mark Wahlberg (that’s right, Marky Mark! I’m a Donnie fan personally, but I digress). We also learn that if choosing a character from Cheers to best describe himself, Rich would pick Norm and he also loves food over beer and the Red Sox!

So how did the game turn out? Well, it was a very close call, one that resulted in a double tie breaker, but at the end it was Meghan and Aaron who won the trip. Richard and Neeta gave a great effort and you can tell they truly do love each other as evidenced by the upbeat attitude they both had toward each other after the loss.

So congrats you two on an amazing effort and I could not be more excited to help you plan your special day!
